Welcome Remarks

Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah

Minister of Sanitation
and Water Resources Ghana

The Ministry of Sanitation & Water Resources is honoured to announce the Africa Water Forum which will take place in Ghana on 9th and 10th May, 2023. We are proud to host this timely event in partnership with the Great Minds Events Group and Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute-GoGMI.

The Africa Water Forum will create a common ground to have a high-level discourse on topics relating to the conservation and distribution management of limited water resources, the impacts of climate change in the industry and the impact of these topics on the socio-economic wellbeing of the continent’s residents. The issues to be discussed will be viewed through the critical lens of research and development, technical, and commercial.

We will see the convergence of the thought leaders in this field, from across the water sector and relevant industries in workshops, panels and technical discussions. The industry decision makers and key leaders spanning from the international, regional and local stakeholders will also be present. As part of the discussions, there will be an exhibition and demonstrations of the latest innovative digital technologies & equipment from prominent solution providers from across the continent and the globe.

The premise of this event will serve as an enabler of intergovernmental relationships, efficient solution implementation and overall positive development in the water sector.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Ghana, I look forward to meeting and welcoming you to this notable event.

Event overview

The African region is facing multi-dimensional water challenges which can lead to massive health issues, food insecurity, poverty, imbalance in the ecosystem, human conflicts, and mass migration.

On the other hand, water trends in the region also suggest that there is potentially adequate water and means to meet the basic needs of the region and sustain ecosystems if planned for and managed properly and with priority. This creates an overarching need for intervention from local and regional authorities to come forward and collaborate with various water stakeholders across the continent for a better future.

Hence, to address these critical issues and topics, the Africa Water Forum is hosted on 2-3 October 2023 in Rabat, Morocco, under the patronage of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ghana from 9-10 May 2023 in Accra, to bring together thought leaders from across the water sector and relevant industries.
